Styrene Monomer Thinner Quart

Fiberglass Supply Depot Styrene Monomer Thinner is a premium reactive diluent formulated for use with unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl ester resins, gelcoats, and fiberglass laminating systems. Unlike conventional solvents that evaporate during curing, styrene monomer chemically reacts with the resin, becoming an integral part of the cured composite.

Adding small amounts of styrene monomer helps lower resin viscosity, making it easier to wet out fiberglass cloth, chopped strand mat, biaxial fabrics, and other reinforcements. It also improves flow, leveling, and spray characteristics for gelcoats while maintaining compatibility with polyester and vinyl ester systems.

Styrene monomer is commonly used in marine, automotive, composite manufacturing, tooling, and repair applications where improved workability and consistent application are important. It should be used sparingly, as excessive amounts can affect cured mechanical properties. Always follow the resin or gelcoat manufacturer's recommendations and catalyze with the appropriate MEKP catalyst.
