PATCHAID® 970XJ037 is a resin-based gelcoat patch additive formulated to improve sprayability, reduce orange peel, accelerate cure, and create smoother, easier-to-finish gelcoat repairs. Designed for aerosol bottles and conventional touch-up spray guns, it produces fast-curing, professional-quality patches with excellent sanding and buffing characteristics.

PATCHAID® 970XJ037 is a premium resin-based additive specifically engineered to enhance the performance of polyester gelcoat during spray patch repairs. When blended with gelcoat, it lowers viscosity for improved atomization, minimizes orange peel, speeds curing, and reduces surface tack, allowing repairs to be sanded and polished more quickly while maintaining excellent color match and finish quality.

Unlike standard patch thinners, 970XJ037 is formulated for use in both aerosol spray bottles and conventional touch-up spray guns. Its unique formulation eliminates the need for acetone when using aerosol canisters, making it ideal for quick repairs in marine, automotive, RV, and composite manufacturing applications. The light-stabilized formula helps minimize weathering differences between the original gelcoat and the repaired area, providing long-lasting repairs with professional results.

A typical repair mixture consists of 70% gelcoat, 30% PATCHAID®, and 2% MEKP catalyst, producing a fast-working patch that is typically ready for sanding in 30 to 45 minutes under ideal conditions. The additive also promotes a better surface cure, reducing sandpaper loading and making sanding and buffing easier while producing a smoother, high-quality finish. For best performance, the product should be thoroughly mixed before use and applied at temperatures above 70°F (21°C).
